Neither employer, nor employee, nor employers' association, local municipality or any other body can escape this: CSR. The broad attention for CSR is therefore picked up by many organizations and applied in their business operations. The greengrocers around the corner only pack their products with recyclable paper, the construction company in the area now actively works with people who are at a distance from the labor market and that one company you never expected is now supporting a project for drinking water in a developing country. You are no longer surprised, everyone contributes.

The entire range of CSR, which consists of People, Planet and Profit, is therefore partly applied by many companies and that deserves the compliments. Consumers will no longer take certain statements seriously. Think of examples of organizations that have even been called back by the judge. Scanning with terms or minimally applying CSR does not mean that CSR is in the genes. Consumers and authorities become more suspicious as they are increasingly confronted with the term sustainability. Even if CSR will only become more important, the benefit of those terms will eventually disappear from the cola.

Organizations that look further, however, have now found several application areas, so that the CSR policy remains fresh. For example, consider buying locally. More and more companies first look for a local supplier in their own environment before seeking advice outside the region. Particularly among SMEs, there are good examples to be found of companies that award contracts locally, even though the rate is higher than regionally or nationally. The local provider, in turn, caused a furore by marketing with terms such as #SupportYourLocal during the COVID crisis. If the consumer was not allowed to go to the restaurant, the restaurant would come to the consumer. Today, that consumer is in danger of giving up again, since the same restaurant has been promoted to controlling authority. Weddings are rather held at home because "aunt Agaath is elderly" and for "student Annabel" the test location is very far away.

This does not diminish the fact that the attention for the local entrepreneur continues to be high. It is up to your CSR Quality Mark Committee to actually incorporate this into the quality mark requirements. In accordance with the ISO 26000 checklist, this has resulted in requirement 3.10 for 2021: 'Is business done with local companies and markets to encourage sustainable purchasing? Is it known where and how the products that are purchased are made? The observant organization will note during the preparations that 4 points can be forgiven here, as an advisor I would say this should probably be self-evident. For next year you will therefore find the weighting differently in the 4 levels from the Bronze level. Does this apply yes or no? You are no longer surprised, everyone contributes.
